Notice—May 15, 2012

In order to ensure smooth processing of your application on the day of your interview, please submit your online visa application form (DS-160) no later than 24 hours prior to the appointment time. Applicants with Monday interviews should submit their applications by Thursday evening of the previous week.

NIV Public Inquiry Form

The U.S. Consulate in Shenyang China will now only accept visa inquiries thought our new NIV Visa Inquiry form and will no longer be able to response to visa inquiries via fax or e-mail.

(Changes to Appointment Procedures)

Effective on November 15th, applicants making visa interview appointments via the Call Center must provide the customer service representative with their fee receipt number, which can be identified as the red number in the top right-hand corner of the receipt.  When the visa applicant calls to make an appointment, he or she will be asked for identifying information, e.g., name, passport number, and the fee receipt number.  They will then be given an appointment day and time at the U.S.  Embassy or Consulate of their choice.  Please note that providing the fee receipt number will necessitate purchasing the visa fee at any branch of CITIC Bank in advance of making an appointment, and that fee receipts are not transferable or refundable.

Nonimmigrant Visas (NIV) are for non-American citizens and non-legal-permanent residents who plan to travel to the U.S. temporarily for business, education or tourism.

Dropbox system for non-immigrant visa application

Due to increasing demand for visa interview appointments, U.S. Consulate General Shenyang strongly encourages visa applicants who are eligible for our drop box system to take advantage of this service.  Visa applicants eligible for the drop box service do not need to schedule a visa interview unless one is required for further clearance. Processing time for applications using the drop box system is less than 10 working days.

Security Regulation of the US Consulate General in Shenyang

No electronic and metal items are allowed to be brought into the Consulate compound, Such as knives, cigarettes, lighters, laptops, PDAs, cell phones and cameras, etc. Any luggage and bags are not allowed to be brought into the Consulate. No food and drinks are allowed to be brought into the Consulate.

All visitors and visa applicants must bring their ID when they come in US consulate, if people (people ages are under 18 need to provide Hu Kou) do not have ID, consulate security staff will refuse those people to enter the consulate.
